What is a digital garden?
A digital garden is an online space at the intersection of a notebook and a blog, where digital gardeners share seeds of thoughts to be cultivated in public. Contrary to a blog, where articles and essays have a publication date and start decaying as soon as they are published, a digital garden is evergreen: digital gardeners keep on editing and refining their notes.
For me the digital garden is a mix of a personal homepage and a wiki.
While building and thinking about the last iterations of my homepage I always pictured some kind of chronological stream of ephermal notes to be a necessity. The mental image of a digital garden that you foster and maintain over time broke that excpectation. It also did away with the thinking that everything you publish online needs to be well thought-out from the beginning. Seeds need time to grow.
