A type of social support where the receipient is unaware of the support.

There are two ways invisible support can be done:

  1. Recipients are completely unaware of the supportive transaction between themselves and support-givers
    • A husband silently taking over household work when he knows his wife is working until late.
  2. Recipients are aware of an act that takes place but do not interpret the act as a supportive exchange
    • Providing advice in an indirect way
